Board Of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said that the national cricket board is in no hurry to host a day-night Test match in the country. The BCCI has already started its experiment with the pink ball in the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament which is currently being played under lights at the Greater Noida sports complex ground in Greater Noida.Thakur said that the board will take a decision on the pink ball's suitability to Indian conditions after the ongoing domestic tournament gets over."BCCI is not in a hurry to take any decision and will continue carrying out trials during the ongoing Duleep Trophy," Thakur was quoted as saying by espncricinfo."This is one of the tournaments where we are trying the pink ball. We'll take the feedback after the tournament is completed. Once it is completed, BCCI can take a call in future whether pink ball is viable in Indian conditions or not, whether it will help to make Test cricket more popular," he added.

Asserting that the idea of four-day Tests and two-tier Test system are no solutions to bring in more crowds for the longest format, the 41-year-old called for analysing the shortcomings for which Test cricket is being neglected by the audience."If you don't have a foolproof format in front of you, where is it going to help the game of cricket? I think we should not even (get) into that. It is four day versus five day, it is two-tier as well.""We should analyse the shortcomings (of Test cricket). Is it the paucity of time? The issue is why aren't you getting enough crowd for a Test match? That is the basic issue," Thakur said.
