Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been arrested, in a statement issued from the jail Monday appealed people of Kashmir that Kashmir’s struggle for right to self determination had entered into a sensitive phase where both the leadership and the people had to remain united, steadfast and extremely cautious in order to take the Kashmir issue to its logical conclusion.Stressing that oppression in the form of violence, arrests and house arrests cannot keep Kashmiris from demanding their basic rights or carrying forward their resistance movement, the Mirwaiz said these tactics would not cow down the people or the leadership into submission. Appealing people to stay vigilant of the anti-resistance and anti-unity forces and those indulging in rumor mongering and false propoganda, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman urged the people to follow the programmes given by the unified resistance leadership in letter and spirit.Meanwhile, condemning imposition of curfew and undeclared curfew, restrictions and curbs for the 52nd straight day, use of excessive force on peaceful protest demonstrations and marches, injuring peaceful protestors with pellet guns and tear gas shells, arbitrary arrests and slapping PSAs for booking a large number of youth, an Hurriyat (M) spokesman said such tactics would not be able to break the will and resolve of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir or force them into giving up on their struggle for right to self determination.
