No need for Chhotepur to be admitted into SAD fold: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Says, state government making efforts to bring international summit to Amritsar

"The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has lots of committed workers and a dedicated cadre so there is no need for people like Sucha Singh Chhotepur to be admitted back into the SAD fold."This was disclosed by the Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal while interacting with the media-persons here today at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Rs. 115 crore project of beautification of Shri Durgiana Mandir open plaza. Attacking AAP, he said that this party is on the verge of getting finished and only the last rites need to be performed looking at its present state of affairs. Labeling AAP as a bunch of no do-gooders only interested in money minting, the Deputy Chief Minister said that its hastily assembled conglomerate of so called leaders managed to lure people of Punjab with their guiles during the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 but now the people have seen their real faces and won't fall into their trap anymore.

He also said that Captain Amarinder Singh didn't care to show his face to the people of Amritsar despite being the elected representative from here. Upbraiding Congress & AAP, S. Badal said that both these parties do not care either for the interests of Punjab or the rich cultural and religious traditions of the state.Coming to the development of Holy City Amritsar, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the city underwent a transition for the better during the previous 9 years era of SAD-BJP government with Rs. 3000 crore spent on various progress oriented infrastructural projects. Elaborating his plans to turn Amritsar into a hub of Tourism, S. Badal said that the beautification of area around Sri Durbar Sahib besides the current beautification of Shri Durgiana Mandir Open Plaza and the focus on Rs. 250 crore project of giving facelift to the Gobindgarh Fort, would further strengthen Amritsar's status amongst the tourist destinations. 

The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated his commitment that no dearth of funds would be allowed to hamper the developmental projects. He further disclosed that the state government would hold talks with the Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring the summit to Amritsar for hosting more than 30 ministers of various countries in December this year.Listing the achievements of the SAD-BJP government, the Deputy Chief Minister said that with the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, S. Parkash Singh Badal the state government has been able to maintain peace and communal harmony in Punjab. He also said that the state government made it an article of faith to observe religious days of all religions apart from constructing memorials dedicated to all religious faiths thus proving the state's firm commitment to secular ideals. He also said that making Punjab power surplus besides laying out excellent road infrastructure are amongst the shining glories of the SAD-BJP government.

The Deputy Chief Minister also met officials of various departments and took stock of the various development centric projects concerning the city. He directed the officials to ensure the speedy completion of the projects.On the occasion, Local  Govt., Medical Education and Research Minister Anil Joshi, Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister P.S. Aujla, Senior BJP leader Tarun Chugh, President SAD (Urban) Gurpartap Singh Tikka, Mayor Municipal Corporation Amritsar Bakshi Ram Arora, Chairman Improvement Trust Amritsar Suresh Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Varun Roojam, Commissioner of Police Amar Singh Chahal were also present.
