Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expressed deep regret and disgust that even for the seventh consecutive week the oppressive regime barred Muslims across the valley from offering Friday prayers in major mosques including the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar.Meanwhile Hurriyat (M) Chairman, who is under continuous house arrest for the past 49 days, broke his house arrest to lead the march toward Eidgah, as part of the unified resistance program ‘Eidgah chalao" program he was, as usual, arrested by a large contingent of police and Indian forces present outside his residence and detained at a local police station. Meanwhile, when senior Hurriyat leader Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari tried to lead a march from Khanqah-e-Soqta to Eidgah, he too was arrested and detained at the local police station.Before his arrest, the Mirwaiz, while talking to media persons present outside his residence, said that oppression on people was getting more and more severe by the day breaking all previous records of brutality against a civilian population.
Terming the statement “Those killed by bullets, pellets were not out to buy toffees, milk”, by the heartless lady of the ruling regime as unbelievable and shameless to say the least Mirwaiz said the statement meant to justify the killings of the innocent civilians at the hands of government forces not only exposed the ruling regimes Anti Kashmir mindset but also their inhuman and revenge attitude towards people.Reiterating that oppression had neither yielded any results for the governments in the past nor would these force people to give up on their right to self determination, the APHC Chairman said the government was adopting all dirty tricks up its sleeves to break the will and resolve of the people while black laws like the infamous Public Safety Act (PSA) had been slapped on over 200 youth.Stressing that despite Kashmir being the world’s highest military zone, India kept sending more and more troops, now the BSF to the Valley, and stationing them in schools and colleges and within populated areas of Srinagar city, so that the surveillance on each and every Kashmiri is increased while Kashmir has already been converted into a massive prison.
