Punjab To Establish Six Sports Zones- Maluka

The Punjab Government would establish six sports zones in the state in order to strengthen the sports activities in all the schools and also encourage the students to prepare themselves for national and international levels. The Punjab Government has taken this initiative especially after attaining second position in All India 59th Sports Tournament held at New Delhi recently. Disclosing this here today Education Minister Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka said that the six zones namely Bathinda, Patiala, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Amrtistar and Jalandhar have been identified for setting up for the sports zones. Each zone would be supervised by an organizer and the players will be provided residential accommodation and excellent coaching. Overall facilities would be provided to promote and maintain the standard of sports in all zones and the organizers would personally monitor the sports activities to encourage the players to compete at higher level. The Minister further said that the students would be encouraged to take part in inpidual events athletics, boxing and wrestling etc. for which training camps would be organized from time to time.
