Reacting sharply to the statement of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, wherein she had said that handful of people (5%) are inciting trouble while 95% people are not concerned, the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani has Mehbooba Mufti to explain that if it is only 5% who are in the movement, then why 7 lakh government forces and on lakh police along with their arterially fail to contain the angered populations in Kashmir and more and more enforcements are called from Delhi.Saying that government has called in army for controlling even the streets, disbanding the public meetings and processions, Geelani alleged that forces don’t allow people to move around during the relaxation time. Accusing Mehbooba Mufti of surpassing all the previous records and putting the whole valley under siege of tight curfew for more than 46 days, Geelani said ‘offices are closed, roads and markets are deserted and armed forces crush the movement with heavy hand’. Accusing Mehbooba Mufti of deployed her “trustworthy killers” and district executives to pressurize the people to break their will and zest for freedom, Geelani said “millions of people are on the streets, 72 people lose their lives, hundreds have got blinded, thousands of the surgeries have been conducted in the hospitals in last 45 days, thousands have been injured and hundreds have been slapped with PSA”.

Alleging that whole valley has come to stand still, Geelani said ‘only an insane can call it a handiwork of a few miscreants?’ Alleging that Mehbooba Mufti and her Delhi mentors are in a denial mode, Geelani said ‘ Delhi people have turned deaf and dumb to the ground realities’.Accusing Mehbooba of toeing the same line Geelani said ‘otherwise people from even army officers appeal every section of people including resistance forum to come forward for peace’. Reminding Mehbooba Muft that even writers of the international repute also caution Indian government that Kashmir is slipping away from its hands, Geelani said ‘Mehbooba and here saffronised ministers parrot the percentage drama’. Geelani asked Mehbooba that if her 5% equation is to be believed then tell New Delhi “it is high time to have a referendum as 95% are with India as per the statement of Chief Minister, but Chief Minister herself knows that it is a bluff and big joke”.Meanwhile Hurriyat (G) has condemned the role of Police and PDP activists who threaten the shopkeepers not to follow the programme of resistance leadership. A spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G) cautioned that despite the horrible and pathetic conditions around, PDP still plays to the tunes of the power lusty Indian politicians and warned them that their actions are taken seriously and will be dealt with accordingly.

Hailing the role of factory owners especially cement factories, spokesman appealed the people to defer the construction work and concentrate on ongoing movement as it is gaining momentum with each passing day. “Whosoever tries to damage or defame it, is neither well wisher of the movement nor that of the nation”, he said.Spokesman while condemning the arrest of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leaders especially Abdul Qayoum Wani and his associates said that employees are part and parcel of society and they have rendered full support to the ongoing movement. He further said that arrests and threats to the employees will not deter them from the goal of freedom. On the reports of some banks being open during the day time Hurriyat spokesman cautioned them not to isolate themselves from the present struggle. He said that by doing so bank employees are playing in the hands of calibrators and nation will never allow you to do so. (KNS)
