On the directions of Supreme Court of India the body Srinagar youth, Shabir Ahmad Mir, was exhumed on Thursday morning for post-mortem.The Supreme Court had last week directed that the body of a Kashmiri youth allegedly killed by the police be exhumed and an autopsy conducted, in the backdrop of the claim made by the the victim's father, Abdul Rehman Mir of Tengapora Batamaloo that the police officer Yasir Qadri (DSP) had shot dead his son in their house.A Bench of Justices P.C. Ghose and Amitava Roy had directed that the exhumation and autopsy should be done under the supervision of the District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar.The body of youth Shabir was exhumed on Thursday morning where his family members and some government officials were present. The exhumation process was conducted under the supervision of the District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar Mr Rashid Ali. “The body was shifted to GMC in Shereen Bagh where City Scan and X-Ray was conducted on the body.Pertinently, the family of Shabir is alleging that he was shot dead, in cold blood, by a DSP rank officer on July 10, 2016 evening. Mir family had moved an appeal to CJM Srinagar which ordered registration of FIR against the DSP. No FIR was filed, however, government went to Supreme Court against the CJM order after J&K High Court upheld the CJM order. (CNS)
