The Punjab Governments has always taken new initiatives for the welfare of the people of the state. In a Major pro people initiative by waiving of stamp duty in transfer of Property in blood Relations taken by Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal had given financial benefit of Rs 4000 Crores to the people of the State. Punjab Revenue & Public Relations Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said this while addressing the gathering at 70th Independence Day Function after unfurling the National Flag.Paying tributes to the freedom fighters Mr. Majithia said despite Punjab being a small state area wise in the country yet more than 80 percent Punjabis sacrificed their lives for the Independence of the Nation. He said that Punjabis had always stood ahead in serving the nation on all fronts. He called youth to come forward to eradicate the social evils from the society.
Mr. Majithia highlighting the achievements of the SAD-BJP government said that many revolutionary steps have been taken for the inclusive development and welfare of the people of the state which included establishment of Sewa Kendars, Farad Kendras, 4/6 laning of Roads, International & Domestic Airports, World Class Universities & Meritorious Schools, Women & NRI Police Stations. He said that other than this historic pro people decisions have been taken such as cheapest electricity to the Industry, Health Insurance for various sectors of the society, Atta Dal Scheme and Social Welfare Pensions were doubled.
Mr. Majithia said beauty of our democratic system is such that despite of political differences all political parties stands united on the issues related to the overall development of the nation and passing GST Bill is one of them. Expressing his concern on the issue of dalits being targeted in the name of Gau Rakhia, Majithia said that Dalits have contributed a lot for the independence & development of our nation therefore people must come forward against such anti national issues which are creating big hindrances in the development of our nation. Mr. Majithia said that due to the unprecedented overall development in the state during last 9 years Punjab is at “Number 1” position in the country in per hectare Wheat production, Kinnu production, per capita availability of Milk, Honey Export, Cross Breed Cows in the country, Manufacturing of Sewing Machines.“Punjab is also number one in Manufacturing of Hosiery and Wollens, manufacturing of Hand Tools and manufacturing of Sports Goods and Export, largest producer and exporter of Cotton & Blended yarn and manufacturer of Tractors and Agriculture Machinery” added Majithia.
Mr. Majithia said that Punjab Government is providing free Electricity to the farmers as well as to the SC and other backward classes. He said that S. Parkash Singh Badal led government had set up three thermal power plants in the state and with the untiring efforts of Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal state has become Power Surplus. Adding to this Majithia said that Punjab’s New & Renewable Energy department had brought another revolution in the state “Green Power Solar Power Revolution” within just last few years. He said that Punjab has increased the solar power generation capacity from just 9MW to 1080 MW at the rate of more than 100 percent. He further said that 50000 Solar LED lights are being installed in the 1500 villages with the cost of Rs 100 Crore in the state. Earlier Mr. Majithia took salute from the marching parade and honoured the freedom fighters & various other personalities who excelled in various fields and distributed Wheel Chairs, Tri Cycles and Sewing Machines to the needy. Students from various schools and colleges who participated in the march past and cultural programme were also honoured by the Hon’able Chief Guest.
