On call of Resistance leaders, traders stage protests in Kashmir

On the call of resistance leadership, the corporate Kashmir Tuesday staged peaceful protests in Kashmir capital Srinagar. The protests were organized by traders under the banner of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation, Kashmir Economic Alliance and Kashmir Chambers of Commerce and Industry.United Resistance leadership had appealed members of all trade and manufacturing bodies including shopkeepers to hold a sit in protest on Tuesday at all district central markets.Kashmir Chambers of Commerce and Industry and its affiliated associations lead by the President Mushtaq Ahmad Wani staged protest near Regal Chowk Srinagar. Muhammad Yasin Khan, president KEA staged a peaceful protest at Press Enclave while KTMF led by Bashir Ahmed organized a peaceful sit-in near Jahangir Chowk. Carrying placards and banners seeking immediate end to civilian killings and plebiscite in Kashmir, the traders said that they will follow every program of resistance leadership. They demanded early settlement of Kashmir issue, stopping of genocide and perpetual atrocities committed on Kashmiri people. The traders condemned the “atrocities committed by forces” during the ongoing unrest in Kashmir, while vowing to strictly abide by the Hurriyat strike program without caring for the business losses for the sake of 'Kashmir cause'. Terming it as intolerable, the business community demanded immediate ban on the use of pellet guns.The traders said that in the wake of atrocities committed by the forces, Kashmir was facing worst humanitarian crises. “Kashmir is a political dispute and needs to be resolved for sustainable peace in the subcontinent,” the traders said.Referring to the killing of more than 60 unarmed civilians and injuries to over 6000 others, the traders said that: “Hundreds of people have lost eyesight while thousands have been badly wounded by the use of lethal pellet guns.“We are willing to sacrifice our business for the cause of solution to Kashmir but the atrocities as being unleashed by the forces are intolerable, “they said.
