Zayed University welcomed around 1358 male and female students today (Tuesday) in Abu Dhabi campus in a one-day orientation program that aims to introduce new studentsto the college life at ZU and provide them with the necessary knowledge to commence their education journey successfully on August 21.Out of the 1358 students, ZU welcomed around 40 international students who will bring their experience, background, and culture to Abu Dhabi campus.Incoming students flocked in waves to get a taste of what it means to be part of the Zayed University community. Likewise, parents of incoming students attended to know more about the university’s resources, culture, and traditionsin hopes of making the transition to ZU just a little bit easier.
Orientation, which is a requirement for new students, exposes them to the university’s departments, faculty and staff, campus services and resources, rules and policies.The event started off with a welcome video from Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of State for Tolerance and President of Zayed University, in which she encouraged students to commit to the highest standards of conduct and academic excellent and benefit from the high quality education and exceptional services provided at the university to develop personally and professionally.
The one-day event was also attended by Professor Reyadh AlMehaideb, Vice President of ZU, Dr Marilyn Roberts, Acting Provost, Dr Abdel Mohsen Onsy, Associate Provost and Chief Academic Officer, Dr Fatima AlDarmaki, Assistant Provost for Student Affairs, Shamsa Al Taie, Director of Student Affairs, and administrators from different departments.AlMehaideb welcomed new students and congratulated them on joining Zayed University, saying: “I want to welcome each of you to campus, and express my great excitement for our year ahead. I encourage all students to optimize and maximize their potential to make their experience at ZU as personally enlightening as it is academically rewarding.” Additionally, the event displayed an introductory video about ZU colleges and departments such as, Office of Student Life, Student Counseling Center, Office of Enrollment Management, Student Careers, and Office of Accessibility Management, Sports and Activities, and Oxford Medical Center.As part of ‘Ya Hala’ orientation event, student ambassadors and volunteers conducted campus tours for freshers and provided them with useful tips on how to settle in at ZU.
Student advisement, registration, presentations, and campus tours are just a few of the activities planned for Orientation Week.Orientation sessions will also be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at Zayed University in Dubai campus.New and returning students are expected to arrive on campus August 21. ZU will open doors to 870 female and 448 male students to join their counterparts (3397 female and 389 male students) in Abu Dhabi campus, while Dubai campus will open doors to 719 female students to join their 2539 female and 119 male returning students. Out of the 2098 prospective students, ZU is welcoming around 61 new international students( 40 in Abu Dhabi and 21 in Dubai), who will bring their experience, backgrounds, and cultures to both its campuses.ZU is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). It has rigorous academics that earned 5 of its 6 colleges international accreditation or recognition. ZU faculty and students have produced quality scholarly work that is regularly noticed and recognized, all of which has contributed to the university’s continued institutional accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), and the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).
