The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee Kathua (DDC&MC)-DISHA met here today to review the achievements under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the district during the year 2015-16.Minister of State for Development of North East Region, Prime Minister’s Office Personnel, Dr. Jitendra Singh who is also the Chairman of Vigilance & Monitoring Committee presided over the meeting.MLA Kathua Rajeev Jasrotia, MLA Bani Jeevan Lal, MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj, Vice Chairman SC/ ST Development Board besides senior officers of district administration attended the meeting.At the outset, the District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Ramesh Kumar gave a detailed account of the physical and financial achievements under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Programmes launched in the district for the year 2015-16.The schemes and programmes which were discussed in the meeting inter alia included MGNREGA, PMAY, BBBP, PMGSY, DDUGVY, PMJDY and SBM.

Dr Jitendra sought active participation and cooperation of the members to implement the centrally sponsored schemes to achieve the  goal of economic emancipation of the rural populace. He also impressed upon the officers to work in a coordinated way, conduct regular inspections and ensure close monitoring to achieve quality parameters and effective implementation of the schemes.He informed that several key projects have been taken up in the district to upgrade infrastructure under core sectors including road connectivity. Referring to various projects taken up in the state, he said with the completion of vital Keerian Gandyal and Pandori Bridge, the connectivity scenario in the district would be greatly improved.   He said that ample job opportunities would be created for local youth with the completion of  first of its kind Bio Tech Park in the state coming up at SIDCO Ghati.  He further informed that Kathua will soon have First Seed Processing Unit in the state for which union agriculture ministry has given its final nod.
