The senior PDP leader and Member Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baig who attended the all party meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday has advised the government of India to immediately stop use of pellet guns in crowd control policing and strengthen article 370 and the JK constitution to strengthen the integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India.Talking to KNS over phone from Delhi Muzaffar Baig said “ I told the Prime Minister in the all party meeting that stopping pellets guns immediately is must for restoring calm in Kashmir and protection and preservation of article 370 and the state constitution is the only guarantee for the integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India”. Elaborating Baig said that he reminded the Prime Minister of his five point formula presented by him at BJP’s National Executive meet at Allahabad recently. Baig said he told the prime Minister the five point formula comprising balance, patience, positive approach, empathy and dialogue can provide the guideline for restoration of peace in Kashmir and resolution of long pending Kashmir issue.

Saying that loosing patience and start killing people left and right is not the positive approach and so use of pellet guns should be stopped immediately and efforts should be made to win back the hearts and minds of the people particularly the youth, Baig told KNS “I told the all party meet that mainstream politicians have lost credibility in Jammu & Kashmir and if the agenda of alliance is not implemented even Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti may loose her credibility. Baig claimed to have told the Prime Minister about the 22 year plebiscite movement carried out by National Conference patriarch late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for his return to power as Chief Minister but not for the resolution of Kashmir issue. Claiming that he regretted the role of Pakistan for looking at the Kashmir issue through the prism of two nation theory from 1947 till now but lot has changed in Jammu & Kashmir now Baig said “the present struggle in Kashmir is more a jihad less a political struggle”. Claiming to have told the Prime Minister at the all party meeting that if not today but after the current phase of unrest in Kashmir Government of India will have to talk to Pakistan over the resolution of Kashmir issue. Saying that he informed the all party meet about the rejection of the working group recommendations made during Congress-PDP coalition rule and NC-Congress coalition rule in the years 2008 and 2010 respectively Baig said ‘ no quick fix solution can resolve Kashmir issue but a long term approach is needed to reach out to the people of Kashmir particularly the youth for resolving Kashmir issue permanently through a process of dialogue and reconciliation.
