Panchayat Conference to start movement change in JK

A ten member delegation of “All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference ”AJKPC led by its chairman Shafiq Mir while addressing a press conference here in union capital New Delhi on Saturday has warned the National Conference and Congress coalition government in the state of Jammu and Kashmir of dire consequences in the coming assembly and parliamentary elections if the Panchayati Raj institutions of the state of Jammu and Kashmir are not empowered at par with the central Panchayati Raj act. The Sarpanches delegation was here in union capital for the past two days to meet with the UPA leaders but returned with out meeting any one because of the absence of the desired leaders in the capital . Annoyed with the attitude of the state coalition government with the Panchayats  Jammu and Kashmir, the Panchayat leaders said that the state coalition government will be taught lesson in the coming assembly elections if the basic democratic institutions are not empowered in the state .

The Panchayat Conference Chairman Shafiq Mir  has also reminded the Congress vice president of the promises he had made with the Panchayats of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the implementation of 73rd amendment of Indian constitution in the state of Jammu and Kashmir adding that the promise of extending the 73rd amendment of Indian constitution to the state of Jammu and Kashmir was also promised in the election manifestoes of Congress party in 2002 and 2008 assembly elections but despite being in power for the past ten years this promise has not been fulfilled .Shafiq Mir also  said that the Panchayat elections were held in the state of Jammu and Kashmir after the gap of 30 years in 2011 on non party and non political basis and despite that people participated in these elections with  more than 80 and 90 percent which indicates that the common people of Jammu and Kashmir are pro democracy . The Panchayat Conference leaders said that despite this huge turn out and expectations of the people, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has not conferred any power to the Panchayats due to which the people have lost their faith in such exercises . 

“  The elected Panchayat leaders and the people who had voted us  are feeling deceived and ditched and we don’t think there will be any taker of such exercises in the future because of non empowerment”, said Mir . “ In fact, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were never given such democracy which the other citizens of the country were enjoying and this is evident from the fact that Panchayats of Jammu and Kashmir are not empowered at par with the Panchayats of other states of the country, he said . We appeal to all the national political parties of the country to work together for strengthen the democracy in the state of Jammu and Kashmir where it is threatened state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Panchayat Conference leaders also vowed to start a campaign in the state of Jammu and Kashmir against the corrupt politicians and teach them lesson like Delhi in the coming assembly elections of the state .  Other senior Panchayat Conference leaders who were present in the press conference included Imtiaz Afzal Beig General Secretary, Bashir Ahmed Malik provincial president Kashmir, Goutem Singh Jamwal provincial president Jammu and Ghulam Hassan Panzoo , state  spokes man , Bindu Chowdharay, Jeet Chowdhary and Abdul Rahim Wani .
