In order to review the arrangements for Independence Day Celeberations-2016, Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting here today.The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of Police, R&B, PHE, PDD, Education, Youth Services & Sports, Municipal Committees and other concerned departments to take all necessary measures for smooth conduct of this National event in the district.He called upon the officers to ensure close coordination and devise a well-knit strategy to ensure foolproof security and other arrangements at the venues. He directed for putting in place proper arrangements for transport, drinking water, electricity, sanitation and medicare with provision of ambulance at the main venue of celebration.The fire services department was asked to ensure availability of sufficient number of fire tenders to meet any eventuality. The municipal authorities were directed to ensure cleanliness in the Kathua city especially in and around sports stadium Kathua. Similarly, officer of Traffic departments were asked to make proper plan for smooth flow of vehicles to avoid inconvenience to the general public.
Deputy Commissioner exhorted for ensuring participation of all government officials in the ceremony which will be celebrated at the district and all tehsil headquarters.The mega event of Independence Day will be held at Sports Stadium Kathua. The contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, Police Training School, NCC and platoons from government as well as private educational institutions will participate in the march past. Besides, cultural Items on the patriotic theme would be presented on the occasion.The Day will start with playing of Shahnai Vadan by District Information Centre Kathua at Deputy Commissioner Office and SSP office in the wee hours. The flag hoisting ceremony will take place at 8 AM at the Sports Stadium.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Bharat Bhushan, DC Commercial Taxes Lakahnpur, Puneet Sharma besides officers from CRPF, Police and heads of government and private educational institutions attended the meeting.
