29 killed as rains play havoc in Pakistan

At least 29 people were killed and scores went missing as heavy rains lashed Pakistan's Sindh and Balochistan provinces, the media reported on Sunday.Karachi was badly and at least 14 people were killed and several others injured in the port city, Xinhua news agency reported.NGO Edhi Foundation said eight people died of electrocution while six were killed in separate incidents of roof collapse.Seven others were killed in separate rain-triggered accidents.Road and air traffic were disrupted due to the heavy downpour, which started on Friday and continued till Sunday.Numerous roads in Karachi remained flooded and many electricity poles fell down, suspending power supply to various areas.The Met office said the city received 30 mm to 56 mm of rain on Sunday.Eight people were killed, five injured and eight went missing in Harnai district of Balochistan over the last two days, officials said.A police official said six cars were drowned in the district.The floodwater washed away cars with 21 people inside. The bodies of eight had been retrieved till Sunday afternoon.
