Govt failed to control the prevailing situation: NC

Opposition National Conference Wednesday that the government has failed to control the prevailing situation in Kashmir but is flaring it up by killings, curfew and arrests of youth, making the situation worse day by day.NC general Secretary and MLA Khanyar Ali Muhammad Sagar said that the killing of Riyaz Ahmad Shah of Chattabal and another youth in Letpora are unfortunate.“Killings of civilians are not stopping. It is unfortunate that two more youth in Chattabal and Letpora have been killed. Government has failed to control the situation. Instead of reaching out to people, government has imposed Curfew, crackdown, arrests of youth. All these methods are flaring up the situation,” Sagar told KNS.He said that the Valley has come to a complete halt.

He said that the Government of India is not addressing the root cause of the issue.Lashing out at the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, the NC leader said that as head if the state she is giving “provocative statements”. “Instead of trying to restore normalcy, the chief minister is giving provocative statements.”“GoI is coalition partner of the state government. Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the state for two-days but he did not announce anything new. At least he should have announced ban on use of pellet guns,” he said.“Besides, offer talks with Hurriyat. These announcements would have calmed the anger in Kashmir. But GoI is not moving. Situation is turning worse day by day in Kashmir,” he said. (KNS)
