As soon as the monsoon gets over, the work for putting studs in river Tawi should be expedited, besides repairing the damaged revetments and constructing the new ones to check loss to life and property near the river.This was directed by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Chaudhary to the officers of the department while inspecting flood-hit areas at village Jassore in RS Pura.The Minister was informed by the people that the road leading to the village from Khepad was also damaged due to recent floods, to which, the Minister responded that the construction work for the road will be taken up soon. The government will provide immediate help to those affected by the recent floods, he added.

Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Irrigation Tubewell A-1 at Jassore in RS Pura. The tube well having a discharge capacity of 18,000 GPH has been constructed at the cost of Rs 62 lakh. The tube well will benefit the farmers of Jassore, Bamna, Badyal, Khepad and their adjoining areas.

The tube well station consists of an electric sub-station housing a pump set, automatic panel, pump room and proper distribution channel. The Minister directed the officers of the department to take adequate steps for augmenting water supply for irrigation purposes in their respective areas.Meanwhile, the Minister also convened a public meeting at Indira Memorial Academy in RS Pura.While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people of the state including power supply, education, road connectivity and uninterrupted water supply for drinking as well as irrigation purposes.The Minister further said that the damage caused to the property due to floods would be accessed by the concerned agencies and requisite steps will be taken to minimize such losses in future.Later, the Minister also inaugurated a Ladies Bathroom constructed at the cost of Rs 4 lakh for which the funds were provided under Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme and CDF in village Jassore.Chief Engineer PHE, Rajeev Gandotra and other senior officers of the department also accompanied the Minister during the visit.
