Mr. Ranjit Singh Waryiam Nangal today assumed the charge as Chairman of Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in the presence of New and Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia here at the PEDA Bhawan.While congratulating Mr. Waryiam Nangal for his new assignment, Mr. Bikram Singh Majitha said that Punjab was in the making of another history from Green Revolution to “Green Power Solar Revolution”. He said that in last few years Punjab has registered a massive growth rate of more than 100 times in the field of Solar Power Generation. He said that in last four years Punjab has taken its journey from just 9MW to 1050 MW with huge investment of 8000 Crores and creating hundreds of direct indirect employment opportunities.
Mr. Majithia said that Punjab was also leading the nation in Rooftop Solar Power generation as compared to other states of the Country. He said that Punjab has been awarded by the Government of India many a times at various levels for promoting cleaner, safer and greener Energy. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Waryam Nangal thanked Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal and New & Renewable Energy Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia for handing him this responsibility and assured to leave no stone unturned in taking Punjab in to the next orbit of solar power generation.
