The High Court Bar Association Srinagar strongly condemns the killing of another youth in Awantipora and injuring 40 others by bullets and pellets in different parts of the valley including a class 9th student Asif Ahmad Reshi at Kakapora, Pulwama, whose condition is stated to be very critical. The Bar Association also condemns the continued use of pellets by the so-called security forces, in which both eyes of 20 persons have been severely damaged and besides 10 persons, who have completely lost one eye most of 170 injured persons need retinal surgery. The Bar Association is of the considered opinion that the Government of India has let loose a reign of terror in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and under a well thought out plan of genocide, they are not even sparing the children of the age of 4, 5 10, 11 and 12 and are using pellet guns to blind them forever and the International Community is watching all this as silent spectators.

The Bar Association invites the attention of UNO and the members of the International community to the provisions of Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the International convention on the rights of the child, where under the United nations has impressesed upon all its member countries that childhood is entitled to special care and consideration and that all the member countries shall ensure that no child is subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment and that in accordance with their obligations under International humanitarian law, they are bound to protect the children in the areas under armed conflict and also take all feasible measures to ensure protection and care of children who are affected by such conflicts. The Bar Association requests the UNO & the world community to come to the help of the people of Kashmir and stop India from using its brute force for suppressing their legitimate struggle for right to self determination.
