Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljeet Singh Chib, today convened an introductory meeting with newly nominated members of the board.Addressing the meeting, Chib urged upon the members to work for development and welfare of the farmer community with added fortitude and vigor. He emphasized upon the members to reach out to the farmers with centre and state government schemes besides projecting their problems to the board for early redressal. “Your prime concern should be the welfare of farmers and ensuring that their grievances are redressed promptly.Vice Chairman said that it is firm commitment of present dispensation to give  fillip to agriculture and allied sectors in the state. The members were also briefed about the functioning of the board and the initiatives already taken for the development of kisans including waiving off the loans of farmers under Kisan Credit Card scheme upto Rs 1 lakh. 

It was informed that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna has been implemented in the state to help the farmers in difficult times.Besides, ‘Basmati Mission has been launched so that Jammu region can be recognized on international fora for its high quality rice,’ D S Chib said.D S Chib, while highlighting the activities of the board, said that mega Kisan Melas are being organized in the state to provide latest technological interventions in farming to boost economy of the state which will directly help their upliftment.On the occasion, members raised issues related to the farmers including non availability of seeds, fertilizers, desilting of canals, promotion of Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture and lack of awareness of government schemes.Vice Chairman assured the members that all their issues will be looked into for an early redressal.
