Dr. Mustafa  Kamaal Additional General Secretary National Conference Monday castigated MoS Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh for claiming that Kashmir is not an issue at all. Kamal said that it is an fact that it was the “ Armistice “brokered by united  Nations between  the two  armies  of India and Pakistan in 1948 at the  behest  of New Delhi that has given Pakistan the possession  of a third of erstwhile J&K  state called POK or Azad Kashmir and has stationed UNMOGIP (United Nations military  observers groups)  in India and Pakistan to  oversee  the implementation  and sanctity of the Armistice. The dilly-dallying by India and unilateral violations of UN resolutions by Pakistan the Kashmir Problem continues to hang fire and defy an amicable settlement of  this festering wound and painful legacy  of the partition of the Indian sub continent in 1947 at the end of the British  Imperial rule in India.

The main victim of this unfinished agenda  of partition have been  the people of J&K state. To set its house in order  India should honor  the legal  and constitutional framework set out by the instrument of accession of Maharaja Hari Singh way back in 1947  and based  on it the “ Delhi agreement  of 1952 and Article 370 of the Indian  constitution” as they  stood  in their pristine glory,” Kamal said in a statement to CNS adding that New Delhi has systematically and  brazenly  violated  these solemn agreements  through  It’s puppet Governments from 1953 to 1975 to the detriment  of peoples  welfare  and peace and stability  of the region  with both  countries being nuclear powers  now there  is a threat to world peace as well not withstanding the three wars fought over Kashmir  by the two countries till date.

He said that in view of the rigid posturing  of both  and stubborn attitude of India it  is time to give a thought to the sane and golden  advice   of late Sheikh Abdullah  that “Kashmir issue is basically a human  problem  let J&K state  be a bridge of peace and friendship between  India and Pakistan  and soften  the borders for hassle free trade  and travel between the two parts  of J&K State  and that the lines  showing India and Pakistan  as separate countries on the map should not divide  the hearts  and minds  of the people of these two countries”,
