The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal today called upon the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and apprised him of the problems being faced by the farmers of the border regions of Punjab.Disclosing this, an official spokesman said that the farmers of the border areas often had to face problems in cultivating their land situated across the barbed wire fence. He said whenever India - Pakistan relations suffered a setback the farming community of the border areas had to bear the brunt. He said in such events the farmers should be adequately compensated for the hardship suffered by them.The Union Home Minister gave a patient hearing to the Deputy Chief Minister and assured him of conveying his concerns to the higher echelons in the central government so as to get them addressed. DGP, Punjab, Mr. Suresh Arora was also present in the meeting.
