While extending support to the genuine demands of Ration Depot Holders in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today said that state government should immediately release outstanding amount of more than Rs 70 crores to about 20,000 Ration Depot Holders.“The State Government has not paid an outstanding amount of more than Rs 70 crores to Ration Depot holders, which was to be paid for the commission of distributing wheat among poor under National Food Security Act -2013”, Head of the Industry and Trade wing of the AAP, Aman Arora said while terming it as highly condemnable and deplorable.

Arora said that success and failure of entire Public Distribution System (PDS) depends on the working of Ration Depot Holders and if the PDS is derailed, weaker sections of the society would be on the receiving end.  It seems that Akalis are not at all worried about the plight of poor, as more than 1.13 crore of them depend on the PDS only, Arora alleged.“AAP supports the genuine demands of Ration Depot Holders and promises that after formation of AAP’s Government in Punjab, Depot Holders would be paid their dues without any delay to strengthen the PDS and eradicate corruption in the system”, Arora said.
