Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the State Government is  committed to its policy of "zero tolerance" towards corruption and ensure proactive and pro-people governance. He also sought public cooperation in implementing the Government schemes and exhorted upon people to actively participate in the developmental process so that tangible results are achieved on ground.He was speaking at a public meeting at Chingi Makwal, Billawar where he interacted with the people and took stock of their problems and demands.The people apprised the Deputy Chief Minister about various demands and problems of their respective areas. They demanded upgradation of Challan - Makwal,  Galak - Rajwalta and Nagrota Gujroo - Kacher roads  responding to which the Deputy Chief Minister  assured  that the work on these roads will start soon. People also demanded electric poles and PHE pipelines along with repair of defunct hand pumps.The Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the people and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers to take requisite steps to ensure early redressal of the same.Assuring the people that their grievances would be considered and redressed in a time bound manner Dr Nirmal Singh reiterated that it is endeavour of the Government to provide all basic facilities to the people on priority.

The Deputy Chief Minister further said that the DPR of Udral to Ramkot road has been completed and work will soon start on this road which will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1 crore. Similarly, the 9 km stretch of Ramkot – Chogal – Dhami will be completed shortly. He further said that CFC at  Ramkot, to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 1crore  will soon be dedicated to the people .Dr. Singh exhorted upon the officers to organise awareness camps in the rural areas so that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the real beneficiaries. He stressed that people should be kept informed about the various developmental and welfare programmes so that they avail maximum benefits from these.Deputy Chief Minister said that Government is committed for socio-economic empowerment of the people especially those living in hilly, remote and far-flung areas. He further said that 100 percent rural electrification of un-electrified hamlets will be completed by 2019 under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana(DDUGVY) at an estimated cost of Rs. 616 Crore. He further asked the people to extend cooperation to the administration for strengthening the developmental initiatives.ACD, CEO, XEN (PDD), XEN (PHE), Tehsildar and prominent residents of the nearby villagers were present during the meeting.
