Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today chaired a meeting of officers to take stock of law and order situation and functioning of essential services and availability of essential commodities in district Budgam. The meeting was attended by MLA Budgam Aga Syed Rohullah Mehdi, MLC Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, SSP, Officers from paramilitary forces and District officers of line departments and prominent citizens.Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that the Chief Minister has urged all public representatives to reach out to the people so that peace can be restored at the earliest. He asked the security forces to exercise maximum restraint.Interacting with the members of the civil society and prominent citizens, the Minister appealed them to help the administration in maintaining calm and restoring normalcy. He called upon the parents to counsel their wards not to take law and order in hand and help the administration in maintaining tranquility. He appreciated the support extended by the general public at this critical juncture for restoring peace and normalcy in the Valley.The Minister directed the concerned for ensuring availability of essential commodities and providing uninterrupted water and power supply in the district.Earlier, Legislators Saif- ud- din Bhat and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi appealed people for maintaining harmony and not to pay heed to rumors. They said that at this time all the political leaders irrespective of political affiliation should rise above the political ideologies and try to contribute in maintaining peace and normalcy.The Minister also resolved on spot various issues put forward by the members of civil society. He appreciated the District civil and Police Administration for their role played in maintaining peace and ensuring no valuable life is lost despite provocations during the previous days.Earlier, DC Budgam gave briefed account with regard to present situation and functioning of essential services in the district.
