 A delegation of Brick-Kiln owners from all over the state today met Punjab Deputy Chief Minister  Sukhbir Singh Badal to apprise him about the adverse fall out on brick-kiln industry after recent directive of the Supreme Court.The delegation sought the support of Punjab Government to plead their cause to Union Environment Ministry as the Apex Court observation may prove detrimental for the industry that was critical for the development of the state and was providing employment to lakhs of people.The Deputy Chief Minister assured them that Punjab Chief Minister has already written to Union Environment Minister Ms. Jayanti Natrajan to look into the problems of brick-kiln industry citing the practical problems of the industry. He said that the Chief Minister would also speak to Union Environment Minister and if required, he would also lead the delegation to them. Prominent amongst those were present on the occasion included  Kamal Sharma, Advisor to CM,  Prem Singh Chandumajra, General Secretary SAD,  Sarbjit Singh Makkar, former MLA and representatives of various brick-kiln associations. From the official side  S.K. Sandhu, Principal Secretary to CM,  D.P. Reddy, Principal Secretary Excise and Taxation,  Manvesh Singh Sidhu and  Ajay Kumar Mahajan, both Special Principal Secretaries to Deputy CM,  A Venuprasad, Excise and Taxation Commissioner,  Vikas Partap, Director Industries were also present on the occasion.
