Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today, replying to a question of Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, informed that only three categories have been identified under NFSA which has been implemented in the state from February this year. The Minister said three categories include PHH, NPHH and Exclusion as the erstwhile BPL and AAY have been merged in PHH. He said under NFSA, a uniform scale of 5Kg/soul per month  at a subsidized rate of Rs 2 and Rs 3 for wheat and rice respectively  and Rs 3 for Atta is being provided to the bonafide rationees under PHH category.

The Minister said there was a minor resentment in some areas of the state regarding less scale of ration and subsequently during the Governor’s rule, it was decided to provide additional 2 Kgs ration over and above NFSA entitlement of 5 Kgs per head. He said keeping in view the aspirations of general public, the present Government had launched the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme from July 1 and will provide additional 5kgs of food grains per soul per month over and above the NFSA scale to the rationees with family size of 1 to 6 members to ensure 35 Kg food grains per family per month. The Minister said there is no question of revocation of the NFSA scheme as food grains are being provided at highly subsidized rates.
