The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag today chaired a joint meeting of officers of district administration, representatives of trade bodies and civil society members regarding the ensuing celebrations of Shab-i-Qadr, Jamat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr festivals.Threadbare discussion  was held on availability of drinking water, supply of essential food items, kerosene and LPG, interrupted power supply, Medicare facilities at shrines, transportation, sanitation and cleanliness of the town and its nearby were held.It was given out that 12000 quintals of rice and adequate quantity of sugar and other essential commodities are available, which would be distributed among consumers of the district in coming days while 1.85 lakh poultry birds would also be made available at different sale centers.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of Legal Metrology, Revenue and CAPD to intensify the joint market checking and ensure adherence of shopkeepers to the approved rate lists. He also urged the members of traders bodies to assist the district administration in checking black-marketing, hoarding and over charging of essential commodities during festive season.To avoid traffic jamming in the busy market places, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the traffic and police authorities to divert the traffic via circular road besides he also ordered blocking of interior roads of the town for vehicular traffic during the festive days.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed SE Electrical to install DG sets at Kaaba Marg, Khiram Hazratbal, Seer Hamdan and Reshi Sahab shrines where religious gatherings are expected. He also directed SE Hydraulic to provide adequate potable drinking water at these shrines. The  ARTO was directed to provide  adequate number of buses for these shrines especially during wee hours and late hours, while CMO was asked to deploy ambulances at these places with doctors, paramedics and life saving drugs.Members of civil society projected various demands including sanitation and cleanliness of town, repair of street lights, ration distribution, traffic management.The meeting was attended by ADDC, SDM Kokernag, SEs of R&B, Hydraulic, Electric, AD CAPD, Tehsildars besides others.
