Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Sham Choudhary today informed the House that drinking water supply to Ghat Tokna and Gadihanjipora villages in Pulwama is being provided through Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Beigpora Gulzar.However, he said, these villages do not get adequate quantity of drinking water being at the tail end of the Scheme.Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh, the Minister said the construction work of WSS Gadhanjipora is in progress to augment the water supply in the area and it would be commissioned by the mid of July 2016 which will alleviate the water scarcity to a large extent.
The Minister said WSS Palpora Naina is an ongoing scheme under NRWDP which is targeted to be completed during current fiscal, subject to the availability of funds. He said the areas coming under the scope of WSS Palpora Naina are presently being provided drinking water from Batpora WSS having spring as a source at Mugmarag.He said WSS Nayana has tube well as its source. He said during water scarcity at the peak of summer season, Departmental tankers are deployed in these areas.The Minister said the inhabitants of Sheikhpora and Kulpora are getting drinking water from WSS Ledermud which has low service level.The Minister said the construction of WSS namely Sheikhpora, Kulpora is in progress to improve the water supply, which will be made functional within a week’s time. He said the delay was due to some minor incompletion for making pressure filter functional.
The Minister said a part of Trich Village is provided water supply facility by taping a local spring. “It is a fact that major portion of the village is uncovered and is proposed to be covered under WSS Trich which is in progress,” he said. He said the scheme is overrun and is yet to be approved. He said however, pre-settled treated water supply has recently been started from the scheme as an interim relief.The Minister said Gulbugh WSS is a cost overrun scheme for which a revised DPR has been formulated which is yet to be approved. He said, however, presently water is being provided to the village by direct boosting as an interim relief.The Minister said Mirbagh and Dougam villages are covered under WSS Mirbagh Dougam which is also cost overrun scheme and revised DPR is yet to be approved. Hem however, said the pre-settled treated water is being supplied as an interim relief.He said water supply to Ratnipora is being partly provided on a spring at Trichel. He said water supply to this village is also augmented through WSS Norwa Frestbagh, WSS Lajoura, WSS Kharbatpora and WSS Mirbagh Dougam. He, however, said DPR has been formulated for an amount of Rs. 3.25 crore for an independent WSS at Ratnipora.
The Minister said the drinking water to Hajnipora village is presently being provided through tanker service, besides a number of hand pump wells installed by the department at different locations. He said a number of villages are proposed to be covered under WSS Gulabbagh which is cost overrun scheme and is yet to be approved. The Minister said the drinking water to Khandipora Nowgam is being provided through WSS Baderwan Khandipora and WSS Renzipora. He said the source of WSS Baderwan Khandipora is a spring which is also used for irrigation purpose and as such during peak irrigation season, there is shortage of water to some extent.“To augment the supply to these two villages and as such whole of this area, a new WSS Shahoora Banderpora at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.96 crore has been taken up for execution,“ the Minister said.
