Three militants were Thursday killed in an encounter that raged between forces and militants in Lolab’s forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.Defence spokesman

, Colonel N N Joshi told KNS that three militants were killed in an encounter at Dobwan forest area of Khurhama Lolab while the operation is still underway. An  official told KNS that after specific information about the presence of militants, the army’s 18 RR and SOG cordoned off the Dobwan forest area in Khurhama. He said that the militants who were hiding inside the woods opened fire and tried to break the forces cordon. “Nonetheless, forces engaged them in a gunfight,” an official said.“Bodies of all the three militants have been recovered along with as many AK-47-rifles and other war like stores,” he informed KNS. Meanwhile, a police official said that the identification of the militants killed in Lolab encounter is yet to be ascertained. (KNS)
