The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today slammed heavily PCC president Capt Amarinder Singh for issuing threats to Punjab officers who are working tirelessly for the development of State and warned him to desist from such intimidation tactics which led to his downfall in general as well as by-elections contested in the past.Reacting to Capt Amarinder's threats to officials, SAD secretary and education minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema reminded septuagenarian leader Amarinder that he was neither the chief minister of the state nor the officers serving in Punjab were under his 'Royal Rule'.The party told PPCC president that the officers of the state government are directly working under a constitutionally elected government and he has no business to threaten the bureaucracy which is working as per the wishes of democratically elected government. If he has any point to make, he should dare to point it out to the government.

He said that this is not the first time when he had tried to terrorize the officers from performing their bonafide duties in the past but has not learnt any lesson from his past mistakes. The SAD leader said that fear factor of the erstwhile ‘Maharaja’  had  proved right as the people voted for the development initiatives of the SAD-BJP combine in earlier elections. “History is going to repeat this time too and the same fear factor has gripped the former CM who has already read the writing on the wall,” he added."Congressmen calling you Maharaja, have actually pampered you so much that you have forgotten that you are no more a 'Royal' but a common man living in a democratic setup," he said adding that even the officers doing their duty enjoy some rights which were protected under the law.Warning Amarinder not to issue threats to the officers serving the state, SAD leader said Captain failed to understand the pulse of the people of Punjab. He advised state Congress leader to concentrate on your party which is in shambles and get prepared for a third consecutive defeat.
