Seeking international community’s attention towards Indian government’s plan to change demography of Kashmir the veteran rights activist and leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Altaf Hussain Wani has said that this dreaded-plan has a very real and direct impact on region’s peace and human rights with far more devastating consequences.According to a statement issued to KNS, “Government of India is conspiring to establish Sanik colonies and to create shelters for homeless Indians in occupied Kashmir”, Wani made these remarks while taking part in discussions held under UNHRC’s agenda item 4 here on Wednesday. Terming it as flagrant violation of the basic principles of the United Nations Security Council and UNCIP (United Nations commission on India and Pakistan) resolutions the APHC leader said that the nefarious plan was against the essence and spirit of Indian constitution and the State Subject Law of of Jammu and Kashmir State.Speaking on behalf of International Islamic Federation of Students Organization Wani observed that criminal silence on the part of this council has encouraged Indian government to take other measures in contravention to United Nations Security Council resolutions on Kashmir for realization of right to self determination. Referring to human rights violations perpetuated by occupation forces in the UN recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, “Indian army has killed over one hundred thousand people in last 26years whereas enforced disappearances, torture, gang rape, molestations and fake encounter continue as routine”. He said that on 12th of February 2016, Ms. Shaista Hameed 22 and Danish Farooq 20 were killed by Indian army in Pulwama district in an unprovoked firing incident.

On 14th of April he said Indian solider tried to molest a teenage girl in a public washroom at Handwara in North Kashmir. He said that peaceful protests against this molestation attempt were met with brute force at different places, which resulted in killings of 5 persons including 50 years old women. “Those Killed Include a Nayeem Bhat 21, Farooq Iqbal peer 22 hotel waiter, Jahangir Ahmed Wani 25 a government servant and Arif Hussain Dar a class 11th student”, he said adding that recently another Kashmiri youth Tanveer Sultan Sheikh 32 was killed by central reserve police in a fake encounter at Khud Indian authorities he said continued to restrict the freedom of movement of leaders of political dissent. “Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Shabir Ahmed Shah and others are put under house arrest and peoples’ basic right the right to freedom of expression and opinion remains suspended”, he said. He called upon the august Council to impress upon government of India to stop its targeted operations to kill and maim Kashmir youth, investigate all human rights violations perpetuated by Indian army and facilitate visits of UN Special procedure including working group on enforced disappearance to visit Indian occupied Kashmir besides implementing recommendations of the special rapporteur on extra-judicial summary execution and UPR recommendations to repeal Armed Forces Special Powers Acts (AFSPA).
