Vacant doctors posts to be filled up soon: Bali Bhagat

Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat today said the Government is exploring every possibility to fill up the vacant posts of doctors by referring these posts to Public Service Commission at an earliest.Responding to a question of Sham Lal Bhagat, the Minister said that vacant posts of doctors shall be filled up as and when selection list is received by the Department. He said under National Health Mission (NHM) doctors are being engaged on contractual basis to supplement the existing manpower in hospitals.The Minister informed the House that the Central Government has identified five district hospitals for establishment of new Medical Colleges during 2014-15 at a cost of Rs 189.00 crore each. He said 120 Kanals of land have been identified at Rajouri, 183 Kanals and 19 Marlas at Anantnag and 61 Kanal and 13 Marlas at Baramulla, while the process of land acquisition with regard to other Medical Colleges at Doda and Kathua is underway and likely to be completed soon.Bali Bhagat said the R&B Department has been entrusted to engage executing agency for construction of new medical colleges at Anantnag, Baramulla and Doda through e-tendering mode and the execution of these works will be taken up, as and when the Department receives funding from Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. The Minister said that class work in these colleges would start only after necessary inspection and approval of Medical Council of India (MCI), for which all necessary requirements of infrastructure and manpower have to be met.Naresh Gupta and Jugal Kishore raised supplementaries to the main question.
