Governor N.N. Vohra, inaugurated a workshop on theme “The Civil Services: An Achievable Career Goal”, organized by the ASCENT Group, here at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), today.Observing that today we live in a highly competitive environment the Governor urged the youth to aspire to be among the very best and achieve success on all fronts, not merely in the civil services. He said that with every passing day the world is witnessing growing competition in every arena of human activity and for this alone our youth face challenge of being competent, efficient and reliable. Lauding the talented students of J&K, the Governor observed that given the required opportunities and a conducive enabling environment, our youth is capable of achieving excellent results in every arena. He urged the youth to spare no effort to fully develop their capabilities and compete in every arena and secure the best results.The Governor noted that despite the serious difficulties faced in the past years, our youth is coming up very well and there has been a progressive increase in the number who get selected for the various All India and Central Services every year. He observed that concerted efforts for enlarging awareness about the various opportunities available in the country and provision of sound guidance would enable our youth to achieve outstanding results. 

He exhorted the youth to explore the wonderful career opportunities which are now available all over the world and get to work hard to achieve their goals. The Governor lauded the efforts of the Kashmir and the Jammu Universities in providing able guidance through the centres run by them to coach the aspirants of various prestigious services.  He said that our universities are well on the path to achieve academic excellence. A resurgence in the universities can be sensed from the increasing number of prestigious fellowships and valuable research projects which are being secured by our students and faculties. The Governor urged all the Vice Chancellors in the State to infuse a competitive environment for excellence in teaching and research in their institutions and encourage their students and faculties to secure the maximum number of awards and honours.Referring to the profitable career opportunities available in fields like management, engineering, medicine, science and technology, law, accountancy etc., the Governor observed that a large number of scholarships are available for bright students to pursue their preferred career options.  He also stressed the need for the youth to look beyond the civil services to the numerous other opportunities for self employment and entrepreneurship.

The Governor wished bright careers ahead to the aspirants and re-iterated that well planned hard work would enable the aspirants to gain success not merely in the Civil Services but in all prestigious examinations for admission to institutions of learning in medicine, engineering, science, technology and management.The Governor complimented Mr. Mohd. Shafi Pandit for his efforts to provide guidance to students for achieving their career goals. Mr. Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Education addressed the gathering on the occasion and urged the students to work hard for achieving their career goals and strive for what is due to them. He advised them not to waste the crucial years of their life and opportunities available to rise and shine in life.Dr. Shah Faesal, Director, School Education, Kashmir delivered a motivational lecture for the several hundred civil services aspirants who were present on the occasion.Mr. Farooq Andrabi, Minister for Haj and Auqaf was also present on the occasion.Mr. Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Chairman, ASCENT Group, presented the Welcome address and Mr. Mubeen Masudi, Director ASCENT Group gave away the Vote of Thanks on the occasion.
