IFJHRJK releases report over usage of Pellet, Pepper gas, Tear gas

‘58 people died during last 8 years’

Releasing the latest report regarding the killings due to the excessive use of lethal weapons, International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir made this sensational revelation that during the last eight years 58 people lost their lives due to the use of pellet gun, pepper gun and tear gas shelling. Chairman IFJHRJK, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo said that from 2008 till May 2016, 55 innocent people in valley lost their precious lives due to the indiscriminate and excessive use of pellet, pepper gun and tear gas shelling.Divulging details report said that out of these 58 killings, 33 were due to pellet gun firing, 17 due to tear gas shelling and five due to excessive use of pepper gas. Report said that an elderly lady and a pregnant woman were also among the deceased. IFJHRJK report disclosed that during last eight years, police and paramilitary forces snatched most of the human lives by excessive use of pellet gun.

According to report the 33 victims of pellet gun include Mudasir Ahmad Lone of Naidkhai, Firdous Ahmad Khan of Sopore , Maroof Ahmad Nath of Khanabal Islamabad, Rafiqa Bano Daughter of Abdul Gani Teeli of Ompora Budgam, Bilal Ahmad Wani of Sopore , Mudasir Ahmad Hajam of Sopore, Bashir Ahmad Reshi of Wachi Shopian, Mudasir Ahmad Kachro of Sopore , Afroza daughter of Gh Ahmad Teeli of Khrew Pampore, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat of Khrew pampore, Mohamad Ramzan Mir of Wusan Pattan, Mudasir Ahmad Mir of Wusan Pattan, Showkat Ahmad Mir of Budgam, Milad Ahmad Dar of Khudwani Islamabad, Fency Khan of Batamaloo Srinagar, Omar Dar of Narbal , Mohammad Maqbool Bhat of Bemina Srinagar. Ansar Ullah Tantray of Palhalan Pattan, Ali Mohamad Waza of Palhalan Pattan , Aqib Ahmad Wagay of Sumbal , Mohamad Nayeem Shiekh of Hyderpora Sringar, Suhail Yasin Dar of HMT Srinagar, Fida Nabi of Srinagar , Imtiyaz Ahmad Mallah of Shopian , Sajad Ahmad Pandit of Ompora Budgam , Nisar Ahmad Wani of Bijbehara , Hilal Ahmad Mir of Soibugh Budgam, Sajad Ahmad Ganie of Hargam Shopian , Manzoor Afzal Shiekh of Baramullah , Shafat Ahmad Matoo of Pandaan Nowhatta Srinagar, Faizan Ahmad of Baramullah , Fayaz Ahmad Naiku of Bemina Srinagar, Abdul Gani Gojri of Lar Rafiabad and Rameez Ahmad Shiekh.

Untoo said that these people were critically injured and later succumbed to injuries.Releasing data regarding the tear gas shelling victims report disclosed that 17 people lost their lives due to the excessive use of tear gas shelling which include Mohammad Farooq Wani of Ladarwan Kupwara, Gowhar Nazir Dar of Shalateng Srinagar, Mudasir Nazir Hajam of Palhalan Pattan, Noorul Amin Daggah of Islamabad, Wamiq Farooq of Rainawari and Tufail Matoo of Saidakadal, Farooq Ahmad Nath of Khanabal Islamabad , Riyaz Ahmad Bhat of Khrew Pampore, Sameer Ahmad Rah of Batamaloo, Omar Qayoon Bhat of Soura Srinagar, Mohamad Abad Dhobi of Mattan Islamabaad, Mohamad Yaqoob Bhat of Zadoora Pulwama , Mohamad Amin Ganaie of Pattan, Anis Ahmad Ganaie of Narwara Srinagar, Feroz Ahmad Rah of Butakadal Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mandooo of Bemina Srinagar, Abdul Gani Shiekh of Budgam , Mehraj Ud Din Khan of Aloosa Bandipora , Mohamad Aslam Chechi of Kakarnag Islamabad and Showkat Ahmad Najar of Sangam Islamabad. 

Among them three were killed by beating ruthlessly.Giving details regarding the pepper gas shelling killings, report said that 5 people lost their lives due to excessive use of pepper gas which include an elderly woman of down town Srinagar namely Hajira Begum, an asthma patient of down town Srinagar namely Gh Rasool Shiekh , an Auto Driver of Batamaloo namely Mohammad Yusuf and a pregnant woman of Hawal Srinagar namely Haseena Bano.According to report the excessive use of pepper gas has become health hazard in down town Srinagar and people regularly complain there chest pain and other chest related ailments.IFJHRJK while terming these weapons as lethal demanded immediate and blanket ban on the use of pellet and pepper gas and tear gas shelling.Untoo said that if government failed to protect the human lives by banning these lethal weapons, he has the option to go to the court of law to get relief for the people.He appealed International human rights organisations to put pressure on India to stop the use of these lethal weapons on disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
