Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today formally launched (UMEED) Scheme, the project under J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission, in Tral Block of district Pulwama. The scheme is aimed to provide better livelihood facilities to women particularly in rural areas.Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the scheme, the Minister said the Scheme will enable the under privileged women not only to come out of the poverty but will raise their status in their communities. He said the Scheme is extensively focused on capacity building and strengthening of infrastructure and is extensively based on strengthening of community based institutions by federating women at different levels.He said under new Government, vital changes have occurred in every developmental sector with the aim to provide corruption free and accountable administration to the people. He said Government is committed to bring revolutionary changes in the economic stability in the state particularly in rural areas.
Abdul Haq congratulated the women of Tral for coming into the fold of NRLM and praised their resolve for participating in the scheme. He suggested people to make Tral block as the best example by becoming self sufficient by taking advantage of Government sponsored schemes.On the occasion, Mission Director J&K SRLM GN Qasba informed that the scheme has covered 23rd Blocks within the state. He said the Scheme will not only help women in engaging themselves in earning livelihoods but will also contribute in the overall development of society. During the function a group of women from UMEED Block Pulwama also shared their experiences of positive change and confidence they had experienced by associating with the Self help groups of UMEED.Speaking at the event, DDC assured to support and monitor the programme to ensure that people get maximum benefit.The Minister was accompanied by MLA Tral, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Mission Director JKSRLM DR G N Qasba, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam, Additional Mission Director JKSRLM, Nazir Ahmad Lone besides other senior officers.
