Bikram Singh Majithia today took stock of the arrangements of the forthcoming foundation stone laying function of the very first Indian Institute of Management in Punjab to be held on June 19 at Manawala. The foundation stone would be laid by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitly.Addressing a meeting of the SAD-BJP Coordination Committee constituted for finalizing the event, Mr. Majithia said that the coming up IIM would be highly prestigious institute catering to the needs of the young students of Punjab as well as to the other neighboring states. Mr. Majithia urged the senior leaders and workers of both the parties, to ensure the success of this function as it was an exceptionally important and historical occasion in the history of Punjab and extend full cooperation to Mr. Shavet Mallik.
Terming it as a dream come true for the state in general and Amritsar in particular as due to the untiring efforts of the Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal it could be possible. He thanked the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitly and Human Resource Minister Ms. Samriti Irani to have included the Punjab government in their agenda and have thought of giving this honour to Punjab especially when the specialized management education was the need of an hour. Expressing his satisfaction over the ongoing preparations, Mr. Majithia said that besides the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, union ministers and dignitaries from all over the country would grace the occasion.
