The District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar today underlined the need for bringing maximum cultivable area under assured irrigation.He was speaking at a meeting convened to review the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana(PMKSY) in  the district.Chief Planning Officer Rakesh Jamwal, ACD Joginder Singh Rai , Project Officer-DRDA Jagdish C  Mehra, DFO Udhampur , DFO Ramnagar, Chief Agriculture Officer, Executive Engineers PHE,   Irrigation and Flood Control,   EM&RE,   Central Ground Water Commission and other district officers were present in the meeting.Detailed deliberations were held on achieving convergence of investments in irrigation at the field level, expanding cultivable area under assured irrigation, improving on-farm water use efficiency to reduce wastage of water, enhancing the adoption of precision-irrigation and other water saving technologies.While addressing the meeting, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to identify the springs (Bowlis) and other natural resources across the district to enhance physical water availability at the farm level and measures to improve water use efficiently. He also stressed upon the concerned officers to introduce sustainable water conservation practices by generating awareness among the people.Earlier, he also felicitated the meritorious girls of different Government schools under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme at a function organised by Education Department here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School.
