An interactive workshop on Smart Policing was inaugurated at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur (SKPA) by Additional Director General of Police Training (ADGP), Mr. Navin Agarwal today. A 3-day workshop has been designed to make police more vigilant, sensitive, friendly and professionally trained.Mr. Agarwal said that smart policing is aimed to enhance the capabilities of police forces to deliver efficiently in maintaining law and Order at the grass root level. He said that the roadmap has been chalked out for police, touches every area of policing to strengthen police public relations, sharpen training skills for efficient investigation of criminal cases.The workshop was aimed to interact with the Superintendents of Police and Dy. Superintendents of Police, who are leaders of the force, and to introduce them with smart policing making them alert, accountable, responsive and reliable, ADGP said.He impressed upon officers to re-orient themselves and come up to expectations of the people with full might. Massive overhaul in training syllabi is under way to enhance the capabilities of police in public delivery, he informed. Besides, “New technologies are being introduced in course curriculum making the policemen tech savvy”. The workshop would inculcate a sense of public service among police personnel and generate sensitivity in police activities, besides dealing with the vulnerable sections of the society is also need of the hour, Mr. Agarwal added.
