Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh Saturday said that Kashmiri Pandits are reluctant to settle at their native places in Kashmir Valley. “They (Kashmiri Pandits) are not feeling safe here and don’t want to get settled in their respective native places. Keeping this fact in view, the government is mulling to set up separate colonies for them as we have set up at Sheikhpora Budgam,” Singh told reporters after the culmination of inaugural function at Charar-e-Sharif town of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Nirmal Singh inaugurated a Community Hall in the town that has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore 20 lakhs.Responding to a question, Singh said that government wants a dignified return of those Pandits who migrated from Kashmir. “They are sacred and that is why we want to create townships for them,” Singh said adding that Hurriyat being agendaless is misleading people on the issue and want to put Kashmir on fire. Nirmal Singh according to CNS said separatist leaders don’t want peace and progress in Kashmir. “They (Hurriyat) should understand that situation is not conducive here and Pandits can’t feel safe at their native places. If Hurriyat leaders continue to pursue anti-peace policies, strict action will be taken against them,” he said.Nirmal Singh said that the government was mulling to set up a Sainik Colony on the Jammu pattern that had been set up in 1965 by National Conference leader Sheikh Abdullah. “Due to opposition from Hurriyat we could not proceed. Hurriyat want’s to disturb the peace here. The fact is that they (separatists) are habitual of blowing every issue out of proportion,” he said. (CNS)
