Maintaining that several schemes have been introduced in the Housing and Urban sectors for the holistic development, the Deputy Chief Minister  Dr. Nirmal Singh on Saturday said that Government is working to develop major towns of the State on modern lines, adding that this wouldn’t only develop the vital areas but by doing so the Jammu and Kashmir would be inching towards becoming a model State.The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating Sheikh-ul-Alam (RA) Community Hall, Chrar-e-Sharief today. The building was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.18 crore having all requisite facilities for celebrating social functions.

Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Ms.Asiea Naqash, District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad, Director, Local Bodies, Kashmir Mr. Tufail Mattoo, senior officers of the district administration and a large number of prominent people were also present on the occasion.Dr. Singh while referring to the historic importance of the Chrar-e-Sharief Town said that it has always stood for mutual brotherhood and coexistence, saying the government would undertake steps for the holistic development of the Town. 

He directed the concerned for  installing 50 street lights in the Town before Eid-ul-Fitr.The Deputy Chief Minister said that several forces are trying hard to disturb the peaceful environment of the State but the coalition Government would do all that is needed to maintain peace and for ushering of new era of development in the State.The Deputy Chief Minister further adopted Chrar-e- sharief township for development after he had earlier adopted Katra town. He also announced additional Rs. 35 Lakh for additional construction of the community hall.Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture Minister said during 1995, the Chrar-e-Sharief town suffered heavy loss due to fire incident and after that a project was sanctioned for the development of the town including Ziarat Sharief of Sheikh Noor-Din-Wali (RA) but due to unknown reasons the pace of work on the project is very slow which needed to be speeded up.The Minister took serious note for stopping of construction work on Shopping Complex which is also a part of the project and brought the issue to the notice of the Deputy Chief Minister for immediate release of funds for completion of the Complex.Minister of State for Housing and Urban Ms. Asiea Naqash in her speech said that the Government has launched several State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes for the development of the State. She said the Government is committed to provide equitable development of the State.Later, the Deputy Chief Minister and the Ministers inspected ongoing construction work on Shopping Complex at Chrar-e-Sharief and enquired about the reasons  for stopping the construction  work on the project.  They also interacted with the management of the Shrine and listened to their grievances.Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister along with Mr Hanjura and Ms. Asiea Naqash paid obeisance at the revered Shrine and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the State.
