Minister for Sheep, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today convened an officers meeting to discuss the issues confronting nomads.The meeting was attended by, Commissioner Secretary, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Directors of Animal Husbandry, Jammu/Kashmir, Directors of Sheep Husbandry,Jammu/Kashmir, Director Fisheries and Managing Director J&K Wool Board.During the meeting the Minister directed for taking all possible measures for upliftment of nomadic population so that their socio-economic conditions are improved. He directed for providing tents to nomadic population besides mobile healthcare facilities to them. He also stressed for organizing awareness camps regarding the Animal, Sheep and Fisheries sectors so that maximum youth are made aware about the schemes of these sectors so that they are motivated to setup their income generating units in these sectors.The Minister asked officers to import high quality germplasm for insemination in sheep and goats. He also instructed the officers to take measures to upgrade the present system breeding.He asked officers to refer all the vacant posts to the concerned agencies to overcome the dearth of staff in their respective departments. The Minister also enjoined upon officers to work with dedication, honesty and zeal besides activate field functionaries so that public at grass root level is benefitted.
