Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr Sham Lal Chaudhary today informed the House that Detailed Project Report (DPR) for revamping of Marvel Lift Irrigation Scheme was formulated at an estimated cost of Rs 46.82 crore with Cultivable Command Area of 11741 hectares and the project was proposed to be submitted under major/medium irrigation sector.Replying to a question by Mr Javed Mustafa Mir, the Minister said that the project couldn’t be submitted to the Centre due to limitation of 1:1 criteria, adding that the new scheme would be taken up only after completing one of the ongoing major/medium schemes.The Minister said that in the meantime AIBP guidelines were revised, which made it further difficult to submit the scheme under AIBP as the funding pattern changed from 10:90 to 50:50 basis.He said that the issue was also raised in District Board Meeting Budgam and it has been decided to submit the project under NABARD.In reply to a supplementary of a member, the Minister assured that necessary correction in the name of Lift Irrigation Scheme would be done and vigorous persuasion be made for approval of NABARD funding for the project.
