The Punjab government has finalized arrangements for participation of 10,000 volunteers from the state in the International Yoga Day to be organized here at Capitol complex on June 21. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi would preside over this function in which volunteers from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh would participate. Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal held a review meeting to finalize the plan and arrangements with the leaders of SAD-BJP alliance and the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police of the districts here at Punjab Bhawan late last evening.Presiding over a meeting, the Chief Minister underscored the need for ensuring the participation of volunteers undergoing Yoga training so that state could be represented in a unique and befitting manner. He asked the state Chief Secretary to make elaborate arrangements to ensure adequate transport, boarding-lodging and food facilities for the volunteers participating in this function. Mr. Badal also asked the officers to depute the teams of Doctors and Para medical staff on the site of function to tackle with any sort of emergency.

Apprising the Chief Minister about the arrangements, the state Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal said that around 23146 volunteers have registered themselves online for these functions adding that out of these 10000 volunteers would participate in this function whereas the remaining one would take part in block level functions organized in the state. He said that the volunteers from nearby districts like SAS Nagar (Mohali), Rupnagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala and SBS Nagar would largely participate in the main function adding that those coming from far flung districts would be provided accommodation in Mohali. Mr. Kaushal said that the participating 10000 volunteers have been divided in 200 groups with 50 members each and the group leaders of these groups would be briefed about the details of function on June 13 adding that final rehearsal for this function would be conducted on June 19.The Chief Secretary also briefed the Chief Minister about the block level functions and said that Yoga Trainers from Patanjali and Ayush Department were imparting Yoga training to people across the state. He said that likewise CDs of Yoga postures in Hindi, Punjabi and English along with other relevant material were being distributed in state to make the people aware about this unique art of healthy living. 

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister while expressing satisfaction over the arrangements asked the officers to the participation of group of boys and girls from Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Force Preparatory Academy and Mai Bhago Armed Force Preparatory Academy for Girls.Prominent amongst other present in the meeting included Cabinet Ministers Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema and Mr. Surjit Singh Rakhra, Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Chaudhary Nand Lal and Mr. NK Sharma, MLAs Justice (Retd.) Nirmal Singh, Mrs. Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur and Mrs. Virender Kaur Loomba, Chairman MARKFED Mr. Jarnail Singh Wahid, former MLA Jathedar Ujagar Singh Wadali, Mrs. Satwant Kaur Sandhu and Mr. Raj Khurana, Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Principal Secretary School Education Mr. G Vajralingam, Secretary Health Mr. Hussan Lal, Special Secretary Health Mr. Vikas Garg, Director General School Education Mr. BS Dhol and Director Information & Public Relations Mrs. Senu Duggal.
