DC holds meeting with minibus associations

To ensure smooth traffic management in the district, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh convened a meeting with representatives of minibus associations here today.SSP Traffic Jammu, SSP Rural, ADC, SDMs, ARTO besides other concerned officers were also present in the meeting.During the meeting, various traffic concerns including congestion, road accidents were discussed in detail besides several suggestions were highlighted to streamline the system.The DC sought suggestions from the officers and representatives of these associations to prevent road accidents and save precious lives. He asked the associations to educate and motivate the drivers to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations. He also stressed upon them to see that the drivers do not drive under the influence of intoxicants and hallucinogens as this not only endangers public life but theirs as well.The DC directed the concerned to regulate route permits and check that the licensee strictly follow his assigned route. 

He asked the concerned authorities to identify the overcrowded and dry routes to maintain a balance between the requirement and availability of minibuses.It is also imperative to keep a strict check on rash driving, wrong parking and overloading as most of the accidents occur due to human error. He also asked them to maintain fitness of their vehicles regularly to contain such mishaps. The representatives put forth their demands and problems which include designated parking space on all routes, terminal points for minibuses and several issues envisaging welfare of transport community.The DC said that their demands would be given due consideration at concerned quarters.
