District Development Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, visited Lakhanpur, the gateway of Jammu and Kashmir where base camp for Amarnathji pilgrimage will be established along with other 8 sites, to take stock of arrangements being put in place for the devotees.The DDC said that district administration will make all efforts for providing best facilities to the yatris and make provision of basic amenities like drinking water, sanitation, electricity, lodging , on spot registration of yatris etc. He directed the concerned officers for formulating comprehensive sanitation, health, traffic management and lodging plan for smooth conduct of yatra and be ready every time to meet out any exigency.
He also visited the spot where a control room would be established to provide round the clock assistance to the pilgrims.DDC also directed the officers of Lakhanpur Municipal Committee to complete the work of sanitation complex as soon as possible for the ease of the pilgrims.The nodal officer of the Yatra will work in tandem with the volunteers of civil defense to meet out any exigency during the yatra period. Besides, In case of any emergency, lodging arrangements for yatris will be made at 8 identified buildings along the National Highway.He also had a look on pamphlets designed for the facilitation for yatris, containing complete guidance and information about facilities available, routes, distances etc. He directed the authorities to distribute them among the Yatris, from Lakhanpur Post onwards. Earlier, directions were issued to district authorities for ensuring satisfactory arrangements with regard to water, power supply, garbage disposal, medicare, transport, etc for the pilgrims.
