Deputy Commissioner Kulgam today chaired a meeting of District Disaster Management Response (DDMR) Committee. The meeting was organized by state branch of Indian Red Cross Society.The meeting had a threadbare discussion on all technological issues that led to preparedness and effective coordination during any natural calamity.Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said we need to create a solid mechanism to frame a set of rules which will help us during emergencies. The meeting also discussed the short and long term plans to tackle any situation in the District.Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary, State Branch of Indian Red Cross said that our aim is to enable the volunteers to increase the capacities of people working to tackle disaster. “We are going to organize a number of training programs at district level to bridge the capacities”, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner sought a periodic updation plan of district management plan for the district. He maintained that such meetings would be held quarterly in future. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the first of its kind medical drug store at District Hospital Kulgam run by Red Cross where only the generic medicine of good quality would be kept available for patients at cheap rates.While inaugurating the medical store the General Secretary State Red Cross said all the hospitals in District Kulgam having space available would be provided the same facility in near future.
