To ensure full participation of enthusiastic yoga volunteers from the state during the 2nd International Day of Yoga, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today reviewed the arrangements for the mega event to be held on June 21 here at Capitol Complex, in which the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi would be the Chief Guest.Presiding over a second round of meeting with the delegation led by BJP State President and Union State Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Mr. Vijay Sampla to monitor the preparations of this grand event here at CMR this morning, Mr. Badal asked the Chief Secretary to put in place all logistics, facilities for transportation and refreshment etc. for 10,000 Yoga volunteers to be finally selected for this event, well in advance so as to make this grand function a memorable event. 

Briefing the delegation, the Chief Secretary said that detailed instructions had already been issued to all the Deputy Commissioner to conduct International Yoga Day- 2016 at district and block level across the state. District Nodal Officer and Deputy Nodal Officers have been appointed in all the districts to finalize the training schedule of the registered participants besides distribution of Common Yoga Protocol CDs to the registered users. He said that so far 21,670 yoga volunteers from Punjab have been registered on the official website to confirm their participation in the main event at Capitol Complex, against 10,000 volunteers to be finally selected for the main event. He further said that full dress rehearsal would be organized on June 19. These volunteers were being imparted yoga training by the experts/master trainers from Patanjali and Department of Ayush/Ayurveda in special camps organized at various places across the state. 

The Chief Secretary further apprised that the Identity Cards would be issued to the participants for the main event in coordination with UT Administration. A Group Leader representing each batch of 50 yoga volunteers would be selected to ensure better coordination with the organizers for successful conduct of main function in the Capitol Complex to mark 2nd International Day of Yoga. Meanwhile, Mr. Badal asked the Chief Secretary to convene another meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal leaders representing the nearby districts of Mohali, Ropar, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib viz. Member Parliament Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Cabinet Minister Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, CPS Mr. NK Sharma, MLA Bassi Pathana Justice (Retd.) Nirmal Singh and former MLA Mr. Didar Singh Bhatti with the BJP leadership shortly to ensure proper conduct of the main function at Chandigarh besides other such functions in their own districts with great enthusiasm and gaiety. 

Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting included BJP State President and Union State Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Mr. Vijay Sampla, Cabinet Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyani, MLA Mr. Manoranjan Kalia, Former State BJP Chief Mr. Kamal Sharma, Zonal Incharge Bharat Swabhimaan Trust Patanjali Yog Trust Mr. Laxmi Dutt besides Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. S.K. Sandhu, Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare Mrs. Vini Mahajan and Secretary General Administration Mr. KAP Sinha.
