Legislator Engineer Rasheed Saturday raised detention and seizure of property issue of pro-freedom leaders in Legislative Assembly.Engineer Rasheed during discussion on grants, asked government to return the property of Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori whose house had been seized by previous government led by Omar Abdullah for anti-India activities. Rasheed said that Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori who is an associate of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani is an elderly person and he has every right to live a dignified life. “Please stop taking revenge from ailing and elderly leaders and return his property so that he along with his family can live a peaceful life,” Rashid told the House adding that Sopori Shab is living on the road.Rasheed also castigated government for detaining separatist leaders including Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik. “When you claim to be the champions of democracy then why don’t you provide a political space to separatist leaders and why you cage them without following rule of law,” Rasheed questioned.
