In an attempt to boost the Fish production in District Doda, the department of Fisheries, has stocked various natural water bodies of Bhaderwah, Inderwal and Ramban areas with quality Carp and Trout Fish Seeds. As per the fisheries department, around 59,000 Quality Fish seeds of Rainbow Trout and common carp have been stocked in the natural water bodies in hilly/colder areas which provide suitable conditions for growth of such species The Rainbow Trout seed about 10,000 nos has been stocked in Kahara Jai stream near village Nagni and about 2,000 in Kahara jai stream near village Gugara of Inderwal constituency. Similarly 5,000 nos of Trout seed were stocked in Chilli Nallah near village Sawara of Bhaderwah constituency.
The quality carp seed numbering around 10,000 each have been stocked in lower Dunadi stream and lower Bhatyas streams. Likewise stocking of quality Rainbow Trout Fish seed has been done in Sharekhi Nallah near village Katyara, Thanala Nallah, Haloon Nallah at Basti Nalthi near Basti Bridge and Dugli Chilli in Binkot stream of Bhaderwah. Each of the water body has been stocked with 5000 nos of Trout Fish seed. Stocking was also done in Dessa Nallah near Village Ghai of Ramban constituency with about 2000 nos of Rainbow Trout Fish seed. The stocking of the high quality of Fish seeds would benefit about 526 Fishermen of District Doda which are registered with the department and earn their livelihood from various water bodies of the area.
